Family and Friends
I've had some wonderful parents here on Earth . . . four of them to be exact
(because I couldn't be trusted with just two). And I have some siblings who I
love a lot, along with a few friends who I can always count on to be there. Let's
don't forget my terrific husband and two sons.
But as great as they are, our relationships are earth-bound and can't compare to
my Heavenly family and friends. I've got Almighty God for a Father! I'm a child
of the King, a princess! Always wanted to be a princess! God is my Abba
"Daddy." He's absolutely crazy about me, even when I must make him absolutely
crazy! His Word says He has called me by my name and I am His! It says He
honors me and loves me! It says He rejoices over me with singing! It says my
name is written in His palm, in the very hand that formed the universe and flung
the stars into space! It says His thoughts toward me personally outnumber the
grains of sand. He gave me a Best Friend, the Lord Jesus Christ, who saved my
life with His own. And He gave me a Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom I can
always count on to be there.
Guess what? Abba "Daddy" can be your Father too! He created you in such a
special way that you would bring him pleasure just by existing. You're a royal
princess or prince and your King is crazy about you! He has called you by your
name, honored you, sung over you. He carries your name in His hand and He
thinks about you more times than there are grains of sand. His Son, the Lord
Jesus, and His Holy Spirit are available to you as well if they're not already in your
life. If you don't have a relationship with them, these three personalities of the
One True God, I can't comprehend how you could be making it, because I feel
about them like I feel about the air I breathe . . . if I go without for just a bit, I
will die.
Here's a cool thing about God . . . He knew me and my actions and my attitudes
and HE WANTED ME ANYWAY! He wants you just as much. Giving yourself
to Him is quite a bit like a wedding. He says "Will you have me?" And you say "I
do. Will you have me?" And then you find out He already said "I do" way back
on the cross. You think you weren't around for Him to know you way back then,
but He knew you before you were formed in your mother's womb and chose you
to be His.
Now, it's your turn to choose Him, God's Son, Jesus Christ. He is how God
provided a Way back to Himself when we were too far away to reach Him
ourselves. He's as close as a prayer (see this link for help with that):

Remember . . . not choosing is the same as rejecting Him. Don't do that. If I
didn't have Him in my life every second, it would be pure Hell. Seriously.
It's easy to be excited about going to Heaven . . . just because it WON'T be Hell!
And I'm looking forward to seeing some gold streets and gates of pearl and all
that, (especially since I'm the queen of cheap jewelry and that's going to be the
real stuff!!!). And I've got some precious loved ones there, a stepdad and a
pre-born baby and some grandparents. But the best thing about getting to go will
be getting to see this Father and Son who were willing to do anything it would
take to get me there. I just cannot ignore a love like that. I have to love them
back. As the song goes, "I can't help myself!"
